I just switched to use Exchange Calendar to schedule my daily life. The main reason is iPhone does not allow two exchange accounts on one phone. Since my email account is an exchange account, I cannot use the Google Sync to create a second account for Calendar syncing ... o, well - I am still a huge of Google products.

Today, I saw a post in Chinese, which summarizes how to use Google Calendar to sync daily schedule on the cloud. My notes from it as:
* Windows platform
1. Microsoft Outlook + Google Calendar Sync

2. Thunderbird + Lightning plugin + Provider for Google Calendar (there was a time, thunderbird messed up my inbox; after that, I never use it again)

select the calendar for sync and copy the private iCal format address

create a new calendar in Thunderbird with Lightning plugin, add the iCal address just copied

Without Provider, it is Google to Thunderbird one-way download. For sync, you need the add-on "Provider for Google Calendar" for Thunderbird.
3. Third-part application: Rainlendar Pro (personally, I don't like 3-part software)

4. Third-part application: EssentialPIM Pro

5. Lotus Notes + GooCalSync
Calendar sync tool between Lotus Notes and Google which runs on Lotus Notes client. You don't need to ask your Domino server administrator to install software or change any settings. No need to use Lotus Domino Designer client as well.
You can use GooCalSync to
- synchronize any add, update, delete calendar entries by bi-direction.
- manage your personal & business schedule on both Notes and Google.
- synchronize Notes calendar to other system via Google calendar. I mean, nowadays there are many tools providing synchronization function between Google calendar and iPhone, Windows Mobile, iCal on Mac, Sunbird, etc.

GooCalSync "Properites" supports "Encryption Settings…"

* Mac platform
1. iCal

add new account with the following Account URL: https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/YOUR_GMAIL_ADDRESS/user

2. Thunderbird + Lightning + Provider for Google Calendar
3. Rainlendar Pro
4. Lotus Notes + GooCalSync
* iPhone / iPod touch
Google Sync, which requires no prior exchange account has been setup on your device with OS >3.0

* other mobile platform
- Android natively supports Google Calendar

- Windows Mobile

- Browsing to http://m.google.com/calendar
- goosync SMS alert service (I used to use its GooSync for Palm OS on my Treo700p, which was free)
