Mu-ming Poo
University of California, Berkeley
“Development of neuronal polarity”
In Mu-ming’s talk, I realize that my favorite theory “global inhibition, local excitation” was pioneered by Alan M. Turning’s study on pattern formation. His original theory is “Local autocatalytic activation and long-range inhibition” (“The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis.” Phil. Trans. R. Soc. London B 237 (1952): 37-72. Rpt. in The Collected Works of A. M. Turing: Morphogenesis. Ed. P. T. Saunders. Amsterdam: North-Holland, 1992.).

New in 'Theory'
- Septins, planar cell polarity, cilia, convergent extension … Bardet-Biedl and Meckel-Gruber syndromes
- Early-passage iPSCs retain cell-of-origin epigenetic memory, which needs continuous passaging to get into Limbo
- Right place and right time: small molecules reprogram cell fate of worm germ cells
- Caspase cleavage-mediated substrate change: switching function of Dicer between RNAi pathway and apoptosis pathway
- Some thoughts on focal adhesion disassembly: focal adhesion fades as retrograde flow
- Fish heart regeneration by dedifferentiation and proliferation of surrounding cardiomyocyte
- Wnt-independent stem cells in the hair follicle, marked by Lgr6, execute long-term wound repair

the audio quality was not good. But really admire you to record the whole thing, hehe:p
good job!
how is the cGMP/cAMP being manipulated in vivo in Poo’s talk? genetic or pharmacological? ip injection for mom and look at the pups?
I want to minimize the processing work I need to do – no adjustment.
He used beads coated with drugs.
