While GooSync has the free service to sync the calendar from Palm to Google Calendar, their contact sync service is NOT free. So, I googled and had the following

Palm contacts -> Google
Yeah, I completed this yesterday evening. It took a few tries, but I got it. Here is what worked best for me:
Step 1: Export from Palm Desktop into *.csv format.
Step 2: Open file in Microsoft Excel.
Step 3: Sort rows by category column.
Step 4: Add first row for Google heading names.
Step 5: Add/rearrange/combine Palm columns to create those used by Google.
Step 6: Delete extra columns.
Step 7: Save result back to *.csv format.
Step 8: Make one copy of resulting file for each category on Palm.
Step 9: Edit each of the resulting files by deleting all rows before and after that category. Of course, leave row 1 in place.
Step 10: Create a Group in Google contacts for each category on Palm.
Step 11: Import each of the files containing a Palm category one at a time, telling it to place the new imports into the appropriate Google group. That's it! Here are some notes on the process:
1) Some data was lost/corrupted in this process. Palm is not consistent with order of phone numbers/emails and also has multiple notes fields. I plan to carry my Palm with me for some time until I can check/correct the critical ones.
2) Unbelievably Google has only a single field for name and also for address! Use the 'concatenate' function in Excel to combine the first and last names into a new column: 'concatenate(D2," ",C2)' or similar. Then convert that new column of formulas to values. I can't stand having no way to sort by last name!
3) I only used column heading up through the end of section 1 as listed in the previous post. I think Google uses the 'Section 1 - Description' column for Group, so I put Palm category here. I just decided than rather than make a whole bunch of difffernt sections, it was easier to make separate files, each only with section 1.
4) If you just clear (not delete) the extra columns, then you end up with a bunch of extra commas at the end of each line, which seemed to cause problems.
5) If you don't have any Google contacts to start with, then just delete and restart when you make a mistake, like I did a couple of times. If you DO have Google contacts to start, then export those FIRST before you start messing around!
6) I'm not convinced that Google will be usable with over 2800 contacts. I may get rid of some fat there. Probably can get it below 1000. It's funny, since my little old slow Palm Vx has NO problem handling all of these contacts and it has a TOTAL of 8 MB of RAM.It took about 4 hours to figure out and complete all the steps. I will probably be months getting the data corruption corrected. We'll see if I don't just end up keeping the Palm...
Good luck!

I tried the csv direct import - really bad. It is time for some tuning ...
It was not working for me!!
At the end, I imported contacts into apple address book and had to manually correct everything ...
Here is what I did for the calendar in Palm:
use yahoo's autosync software - which is a desktop software and integrated with PalmDesktop
very nicely upload my Palm calendar into my yahoo mail calendar
then, I export it as for outlook/cvs and import to google calendar easily
I have not test the contact there, since I already manually solved issue :-(, which should work, I guess
I exported my Palm contacts as Google contacts using a lot less steps: From the contacts in Palm desktop (I have version 6.2.2) I did a Select All (control A), then selected Edit, Forward as Vcard and saved the vcf file somewhere. Then I went to gmail contacts and selected Import, then clicked chose file and selected the location of the vcf file. After a few minutes it was done and I could see all the Palm contacts in Google.
Hi Albert, thanks very much for the tip.
I used to love my Palm -- guess we all did. Hung onto that last Palm
Treo until it froze so much I just couldn't stand it. Took me almost
two years to find a way to get my data onto a contemporary system.
Finally did it! Google is the answer, people. I can't recommend which
"smartphone" is the best one to use to sync with Google, but there
are more and more of them out there. The point is that Google's Gmail
system has enough flexibility to handle all the "extra" fields that
former Palm users have in our data -- like multiple mobile tel no's
for a contact, etc. I haven't found anything else.
Whatever you do, don't get a Blackberry and don't try WinMobile.
You risk losing lots of data because there just aren't enough fields
to handle everything. You have to get your data over to Gmail. Just
set up a free Gmail account. It wasn't easy to find the applications
to get my data from Palm to Gmail because most of the app's leave
some data fields out. I am happy to share the info that I finally
nailed it. You just have to buy a couple of inexpensive programs, but
it's well worth it. Here's what to do:
First, tranfer your data out of the Palm Desktop into Outlook using
the Chapura PocketCopy Software. Look, I am not suggesting actually
using Outlook. (Outlook hides many fields, like that 2nd mobile tel
no for a contact, into obscure locations where it's very hard to
find. Yuck.) Outlook is just a conduit for getting your data onto
Google. Read on.
To transfer all your data (contacts, calendar, notes, and tasks)
including all fields from Palm Desktop go here:
http://www.chapura.com/pocketcopy.php
Then, back up all your data for safekeeping from Outlook into PST
files. You have to do that separately for each of Contacts, Calendar,
Notes, and Tasks. Just go to File, Export, etc.
Now, here's the gold -- The one and only program that I have found
which will actually copy 100 percent of all your Contacts, Calendar,
and Notes fields from Outlook onto Google's Gmail is Gsyncit. (V-cards do NOT transfer all the fields BTW. But Gsyncit does.) Works great. You can get it here:
http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/index.shtml
Just read through all the Settings in Gsyncit very carefully. (You
can even use it to periodically back up all your data from Google
onto Outlook, which is way more convenient than those awkward CSV or Excel
files.) Here are some settings that I highly recommend in Gsync for
your initial upload to Gmail, and then it works like a charm:
CONTACTS:
-Check Automatically continue synchronizing on failure (in case your
internet goes down)
-Check to sync everything -- and especially User Defined Fields at
the very end of the list
-Uncheck "allow contacts to be deleted"
-Uncheck "removing duplicates when syncing" (Trust me -- you can
merge duplicates in Gmail after uploading.)
Read the other options and do what you want, but I strongly advise the above.
CALENDAR:
Read the Settings options and do what you want, but here's a taste of
what I did and I was happy:
-Check Automatically continue synchronizing on failure (in case your
internet goes down)
-Check to sync or not what you want - read carefully
-Uncheck "allow events to be deleted"
-Uncheck "removing duplicates when syncing"
NOTES/Memos:
You can upload by Category (hooray!!!) to Google Docs using GSyncit.
There are detailed instructions on the GSyncit support page. I did it
and was very delighted. I have almost 500 Memos from my Palm Treo
which are all organized by category and I was very concerned about this.
TASKS:
Apparently, Google has made it impossible for any developer to get
access in any way to upload into their Tasks system on our Google
Gmail accounts, despite the fact that people have been asking for
over a year. GSyncit has a way of uploading to a separate calendar,
but it's not ideal because you lose your categories from Palm. I'm
about to try a separate app called GTasks, but I don't know if it
works or not -- I don't think that the GTasks app works with Google -
I think it's maybe a standalone. So, if you don't have a lot of
tasks, and you want everything on Google, the GSyncit workaround
might work for you.
[...] if the trial of CompanionLink will work. If not, try this: How-To Sync contacts from Palm to Google for iphone or Android etc [...]
I successfully migrated all my memos and contacts to B-Folders. It imports the CSV files exported by Palm Desktop and no need to go through Google.
Thank you, Albert R! Your method is clear, direct, and WORKS PERFECTLY. And it's free. I just copied over 500 PALM addresses to Google.
