Software on Cydia (I jailbreaked the iphone using QuickPwn. I can only jailbroke it using the Windows version not the Mac version - I don't know why.)

  - very similar to PDAnet, however very complicated for either setup or use
• AptBackup
  - automatic install the cydia softwares: the list is saved in iTunes backups; disable the passcode protection (I have to delete any ActiveSync with exchange server) and NONE automatic-lockup in the preferences setting before proceeding the restore; it would be nice if this software has a built-in function to block the lockup for smooth restoring
• Backgrounder
  - for running application at the background when it is closed, need to continuously press the HOME button to enable or disable; I found it is not really necessary
• Books
  - a simple eBook reader
• BossPrefs
  - very similar to SMSettings, which is a much better version
• Categories
  - shrink the springboard pages by creating folders for application icons; I used to use it
• Clippy
  - copy and paste function in iPhone; very nice integrated in the keyboard
• Cycorder
  - record movies through the built-in camera in iPhone; it would be nice to have the files saved in the place where they would be sync automatically to iTune
• gpSPhone
  - a GameBoy Advanced emulator; I am not really a GameBoy fan and I could not make it work with the ROMs I downloaded
• iBlacklist
  - if you do not want to talk to someone or even receive its sms, install this one; however, the free version has a lot of limitations; I guess most the normal mobile phones produced in China has similar function "抗骚扰" built-in
• iMobileCinema
  - a powerful Safari plugin for playing Internet videos on iPhone; without it, there is no way to watch flash movies embedded in the web page; for instance, this application automatically transfer the youtube video viewing request to the YouTube application; very well integrated with SBSettings
• Installous
  - check their website for what this app does; the only drawback is that the links in appulo.us expire very quickly; you need to add an additional source for installation, put the following in the cydia source

• MacMan
  - just a game, try it and you will be amazed
• MiM
  - Make it Mine, customizing the carrier name; I just cannot understand why people need this app
• MobileFinder
  - as its name, a file manager for iPhone, just like the Finder in Mac OS X desktop version; not really needed
• MobileTerminal
  - the SUPER terminal application in iPhone, much better than many commercial ones in the AppStore; love it; you need to read its help documents carefully to be able to use it efficiently
• MxTune
  - download youtube video to your phone; you can control to download either normal resolution or high-resolution videos; I replace the YouTube app with this one
• NemusSync
  - sync your google calendar with your iphone calendar, if you cannot use the Google Sync like me (due to the ONE exchange account limitation): All the setting is kept in iTunes backups! To enable automatic sync, put this file com.paf78.autoNS.plist into /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ (you need rename the download one into com.paf78.autoNS.plist) then reboot
• NES
  - a Nintendo Entertainment System emulator; not really a Nintendo fan either; plus, I cannot make it work with the ROMs I downloaded
• OpenSSH
  - must have for any jailbreaked iPhone; for secure file transfer and any system modification; very well integrated with SBSettings; again, MUST HAVE
• PDAnet
  - not free for full function after the 12-day trial, free for http web browsing; suppose to create a hotspot for sharing the 3G data plan with any other mobile devices; unfortunately, I failed to set it up when I was in the airport - haven't tried since then
• PowerTool
  - ?? manager the power ??
• Rename
  - it is from Weiphone and the app's name is very well self explained; it works and displays the long app's name as a short customized version; you need an additional source for installation, put the following in the cydia source

  - as its name, a search engine for iPhone; not really needed
• SBSettings
  - quick control many SpringBoard Settings; must have for jailbreaked iPhone; easy access to control WiFi, 3G; easy to reboot, respring, poweroff, etc.

  - a VoIP app, user account required, uninstalled
• Snapture
  - the best camera I have seen for iPhone, better than those listed in AppStore (!); however, the free version has limitations, so I uninstalled it
• VoIPover3G - make several VoIP software being able to run while iPhone is 3G mode and no WiFi available, such as fring
• WinterBoard
  - for customizing the theme of iPhone; not a theme fan, uninstalled
