There are several out there. None is perfect. This MarsEdit is recommended most. So, I am trying on this one. One biggest drawback is that MarsEdit does not support the new "Custom Fields" function in the wordpress xml-rpc, yet. Anyway, it is a good software, very easy to use!

Based on my recent googling, there is no good desktop blogging software for linux yet - might be due to the lacking of motivation.
I am using Gnome Blog in Ubuntu which is an applet in the Gnome panel for some quick post - no automatic file uploading, poor formating ...
Thanks for giving MarsEdit a spin. Custom fields support is definitely on my radar, hopefully it won't be terribly long before i get it implemented.

As for the windows folks, Windows Live Writer with extensions is your best shot, although no "Custom Fields" either
