CODED Tickets
Coded tickets are secret discount codes that exist for most Broadway shows. They are given to us for marketing purposes and they enable the bearer to get huge discounts off the price of a Broadway show ticket.
Blackout Dates
Occasionally, Broadway theatres may "blackout" certain dates - which means you cannot use discount codes for shows on those dates. These dates will change depending on how many seats the theatre sells at the regular price. We do not try to attempt to keep track of these blackout dates because of their fluidity, in many cases they can change daily and without notice. If TicketMaster or Telecharge informs you that there is a blackout on a certain date, it may be necessary to try another performance day and work your way back to your preferred day or call them on a different day to see if the blackouts have changed for that show. Most traditional top-holiday peak days like new years eve and labor day usually don't get freed up from blackouts, unless there is a blizzard or other major factor that dramatically reduces the audience. All other peak days tend to be somewhat more flexible.
ANYONE RUSH tickets
Normally available either when the box office opens or a few hours before the production starts, "Anyone Rush" tickets are normally about $20-25 each. As the name implies anyone can get these tickets
Many times, theatre box offices will only accept cash as payment for anyone rush tickets, so arrive at the theatre box office prepared.
STUDENT RUSH tickets
Normally available either when the theatre box office opens or a few hours before the production starts. "Student Rush" tickets are normally about $15-20 each. A student ID is usually required to purchase tickets. Often with one student ID, two tickets can be purchased.
College or decent school ID is acceptable and a corresponding photo ID.
As with "Anyone Rush" tickets, cash is king - so take cash for this sale.
Starving Artist Tickets
These tickets are designed for struggling artists and are usually the best seats in the house for the very top shows. The theatre's usually reserve the first three rows for these seats.
More shows now are making "ANYONE RUSH" tickets synonymous with "STARVING ARTIST TICKETS" as the term has created much confusion.
Sometimes the audience in these seats may get wet during the performance, but usually a show will supply rainwear or clean up gear.
SRO - Standing Room Only
These tickets do not guarantee that you will get a seat, but you will get into the theatre - where you will see the show and possibly get a seat.
The way it works is that after the show has begun, the pages will seat all the SRO people in what seats remain unoccupied - We have got some great seats this way, including the premium boxes and other times we had to stand in the SRO section for the entire show :-(
This is an extremely cheap way of getting into a show, with the average running at $20 for the very top shows on Broadway. Many times, the theatre box offices will only accept cash as payment for SRO tickets, so arrive at the theatre box office prepared.
Expiration Date
Refers to the date that the show must be seen by, not when it must be purchased
Ordering Online
Although very convenient, ordering tickets online at www.broadwayoffers.com is problematic because TicketMaster and TeleCharge fail to keep the site up-to-date (New codes are not listed, old ones can still be used but will fail on the sale page) We recommend that you always call the numbers we list to book seats with discount codes rather than attempt to use this online service. We obviously do not support any problems that you may have with Broadwayoffers.com.

Each day, 2½ hours prior to show time (11:30 AM for 2 PM matinees; 12:30 PM for 3 PM matinees; 4:30 PM for 7 PM performances; 5:30 PM for 8 PM performances), people who present themselves at the Gershwin Theatre box office will have their names placed in a hat. 30 minutes later, names will be drawn for 28 front-row seats at $25 each. This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person, cash only. You do not need to be a student. On some days the numbers of people for the lottery is high - we have seen over 350 on one day, you can reduce this by going for the lottery for the matinee show instead, the number can be as low as 50. They are now asking for a picture ID so you cannot enter the lottery more than once, just to make it fair for everyone. Even though the seats are at the very front, the sight lines are poor.
